LVVf took an initiative to walk four kilometers with their children to from LVVF head quarters in Muledane to the Public library in Thohoyandou next to Thavhani Mall. It was a really grilling and fun walk for the young ones who had to be transported back to Muledane after a sessions of speeches, poems and short performances from the LVVF team, youth and supporters.
The walk was on the height of the rainy season and on the brink of the GBV cases increasing in the venda area. Everyone was talking about the death of Livhu a famous radio station encore who was accused of murdering his girlfriend and throwing her in the toilet ditch just outside their home. LVVF wanted to raise the awareness of how GBV affects the children the most. When a one parent is dead and another is arrested it leaves an organization like LVVF worried about the children and their future.
LVVF founder LB mamugudubi hopes the parents feel her efforts the most considering she had kid holding pluck cards and boards written, show more love, children are a gift from god, stop GBV and many more. It is kids who come from abusive families that bring abuse to school or end up doing badly with their marks in class, she said. LVVF partnered Sonke gender justice, Thulamela municipality, thulamela Police and university of venda students.
The event was a great success with many people commenting on how its important to build a strong family foundation for our children and not to resort to violence when there are disagreements. LVVF is one of the organizations that helps families find solutions and counseling to move forward as a family without violence.
